About me

I am Jody Vyner; I am a psychotherapist, singing circle holder, ritual weaver, mother, daughter, sister, wife and friend. But I have been many things in this lifetime; a French teacher, an English teacher, I have run a community cafe, worked with asylum seekers and refugees, been a doula, trained in antenatal teaching and support, story-telling and face painting! I feel that the more passions and interests I follow, the more experiences and skills I can gather along the way and the more richness and range I can bring to my work.

I live in Sussex with my family and spend as much time as I can in the woods - I love to be outdoors and watch the seasons turn. Singing is one of my biggest passions because it's something that involves my whole being and can really change my mood.

I find singing with others particularly powerful; the harmonies, the sense of being part of something bigger than myself, the opportunity to take a moment just for me and experience something very personal - all feel like an important part of my life and well-being. I love to be swept away by a song and how no matter what is going on in my life, singing can meet me right there and offer me comfort, joy, tears, energy and fire! I did my music GCSE two years early and have always been part of a choir, band or singing circle and now I love being able to offer that to others.

Being a therapist calls to a part of me that feels older than my bones. To share the journey my clients are on and be their companion and guide along the way; to offer a safe space where vulnerabilities can emerge and processes can unfold, be understood, shifted and integrated is truly a privilege. It always felt very natural to me to offer a sturdy, compassionate, grounded ear to people I loved and now I get to offer that to clients too. Of course some days are easier than others, but that all feels like part of the process and is part of what makes this work so rewarding.
